Collaborator/Wardrobe-Integrator/Stylist for Online Women's Clothing Store
About the Role:
I'm building a new online women's clothing store, and I'm looking for an experienced stylist/buyer to work alongside me as a close collaborator in shaping the brand's vision — not just filling a standard buying role.
The core idea behind this store: every piece we sell should work seamlessly with what a woman already has in her closet. Instead of encouraging one-off purchases that sit unworn, we want to help customers build onto their existing wardrobes intentionally — reducing waste and making it easier to love what they buy. If you care about thoughtful, less-wasteful fashion and know how to translate that into an actual assortment, this is a chance to help define that from the ground up.
What You'll Do:
Partner directly with me to define the brand's point of view on versatile, wardrobe-integrated dressing
Select and vet pieces (via vendor catalogs, showrooms, or trend research) using a "does this connect to what she already owns?" lens
Build capsule-style collections anchored in neutral bases and high-mileage layering pieces, with intentional (not excessive) statement pieces
Develop a repeatable framework/criteria we can use season after season to evaluate whether a piece belongs in the collection
Write styling rationale for each piece — how it pairs with existing wardrobe staples — for use in product copy and lookbooks
Advise on color stories, fabric choices, and silhouettes that age well and resist disposability
Help think through how "reducing waste" shows up in merchandising decisions, not just marketing language
What I'm Looking For:
Real experience in personal styling, fashion buying, or wardrobe consulting
A genuine interest in sustainable/intentional fashion — someone who can speak to why a piece reduces waste, not just that it's trendy
Strong eye for versatile, cross-seasonal pieces over trend-chasing
Comfortable being a thought partner early on — this is closer to co-creating a vision than executing a fixed brief
Confident articulating styling rationale in writing
Independent, reliable, and comfortable working remotely with regular collaboration (calls, shared docs, mood boards)
Bonus: past work with sustainable/DTC apparel brands or capsule wardrobe concepts
Project Details:
Engagement type: Freelance/contract, project-based to start, with potential for an ongoing advisory relationship as the store grows
Location: Fully remote
